Outside–In

At St Mary's Cathedral during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022, visitors and participants were invited to answer the question of self portrait and discovery through art. Our drop-in workshops encouraged people to create self-portraits that show an expression of identity, memory, and belonging. The workshops explored what it means to discover yourself within a new community, particularly for those who have migrated. The finished works were brought together into a single installation shaped into a cube structure housing the collected self-portraits, each one a voice within a larger chorus. For a full year, the Cube was later exhibited in many intuitions and community spaces around Edinburgh.
